It really works just like you would think- plug and play. I have Windows Vista and when I plugged it in, the necessary drivers were automatically downloaded.

Soon I was playing an NES emulator with the 360 pad and it works great. The best results I've gotten is with the N64 emulator, I was able to map the C buttons onto the right stick so camera movement in Mario64 feels more like today's games. This is the best game pad and the fact that I can use it on both my x360 and PC is the best feature.

My son bought this controller. It came faster than expected. He has no problems with it.

This wired controller works well with "my" Vista SP1. The wireless Xbox 360 controller not only worked improperly on my computer with Vista SP1 32 bit, but would cause some of the other USB devices to disconnect during computer operation.

Best controller to use for playing PC games. Previous purchase of generic brands PC controllers were all useless. This game with a free USB connector and Amazon has the best deal so far for this controller. It's computable with all current PC games and even the old ones as far back as 4 years. Should work with even older games.

Works great under Vista.

I was able to plug this in and use it with my Vista laptop with Unreal Tournament 3, Left 4 Dead, and Counter Strike easily.
Way cheaper than the wireless controller and does exactly what I want it to.

Had to get this when I found out that Assasins Creed is not compatible with Logitech's Wingman Rumble pad version 1. Connected it to my Vista PC and was immediately recognized and Windows Update installed the drivers. I went a bit further and installed the program for it also. The only thing I found kind of weak is the rumble feature. My old Wingman packed more punch for the rumbling feature. Outside of that, the controller works great on Assasins Creed and Tomb Raider Anniversary. I chose the corded version due to price and hating to keep charging batteries. The cord is super long. Too long for my applicaiton, but I took the excess and coiled it back up the way it came out of the package. If you see games that have the "Games for Windows" on the box, they are guaranteed work with this controller. Assasins Creed does not have that, but the specs behind the box say so. Would have been nice if it were available in black. I know the cordless is available in black. At any rate, if you need a gamepad or replace your noncompatible Wingman, get this. You'll enjoy it.

I love this controller. It worked perfectly with my PC. I connected it and it was recognized and it worked right off the bat. Plays games like Devil May Cry 4 and Dead space like a champ. Lets me play the games like they were supposed to be played, but without having to invest in an Xbox360.

Comfort: I love it. The Xbox360 controller has to be one of the most ergonomic controllers out on the market right now. It fits perfectly in your hands and they don't cramp after hours of playing. Button placement is intuitive and is way better than the keyboard for a lot of games.

Usability: Very easy to setup. Basically Plug and play. Games that support the controller already have the controls mapped out and you can begin playing right away. Love it.

This controller is completely worth it. Get it now if you are at all considering it.

This is a X-Box controller and I hooked it up to vista64 on a PC, it found the drivers and now I enjoy the playing games with the Xbox controller.

I can't really can't say much that hasn't been said about this controller already. For PC use the controller is unrivaled in my experience. The drivers install painlessly, the controller functions as you set it up to, and it's lightyears ahead of most other gimmicky controllers in terms of comfort.

If I had to make one small complaint it would be that Microsoft hasn't released any official programming software (that I know of) which prevents me from using this on games which don't inherently have a gamepad option. There are free third party programs out there which bridge the gap but ultimately I'd rather not have to do as much meddling as I did to to make this controller programmable in the future.

As a 360 controller? It's definitely a good idea if you don't have a play and charge kit but otherwise the wireless controllers I prefer for my actual 360.
